RMD Updater for Act4Advisors 2.0 only

Overview:
Download RMD Updater »

Act4Advisors will automatically update the RMD Date for Contact and Spouse when the user enters and exits the respective date of birth field.

Because this require the user to go through each date of birth field for each contact, we have created this global update program.

The purpose of the program is to allow a customer who has imported dates of birth in Act4Advisors to globally update the RMD Dates for Contact and Spouse. This will allow the Important Dates Report to accurately check the database for the correct RMD Date.

After importing data into Act4Advisors, open the Advisor database. Click on this link and choose Open.

You can choose "Update All" or "Update only Empty fields" and then Proceed.

Note: For United States versions only. Not for use with Canadian versions.

I am able to enter data in some fields but not in others - fields are missing

Question: I have Act4Advisors Open and I am able to enter data in some fields but not in others. The fields are missing on the Insurance tab, Investment tab, etc.. Why is this happening?

Answer: You may have the incorrect database opened. Only Advisor.dbf database can be opened with our layouts. Typically it is located in My Documents\ACT \Database\Act4Advisor 2.0\Advisor.dbf.

When you open the database for the first time, you will notice only 3 contacts. You can start entering new data or if you have an existing database -- you will need to import your existing data into Act4Advisors.

How to change the "Alt L"

Question: When I use Alt L to do a lookup, I get passed to the Loans tab. Is there anything I can do to correct this?

Answer: Go to the Tools menu in ACT! and select Design Layouts. Go to the Edit menu and select Tabs. Select Loans tab and click Rename. For Shortcut key, change it from 'L' to 'O'. Save the layout and close it. This will correct the problem and ALT-O will now take you to the Loan tab and the Lookup shortcut will be restored.

Need to reinstall Act4Advisors 2.0

Question:
I just got a new computer and installed act on it, however when I try to open my Act Database, it is missing the Act4Advisors add-on. Where can I download it from and can I get my software key re-issued?

Answer:
Act4Advisors 2.0 Installation compatible with ACT! 6.0(2004)

Step 1. Close ACT and download the installation file http://downloads.act4advisors.com/su02/wkstn-setup.exe Save this file to your Desktop
Step 2. Open/Run the file. It will say, "This software requires a security key…" Press the OK button.

Step 3. Highlight the Hardware Fingerprint with your mouse and Copy it via right mouse click.

Step 4. Click here to create the email to request the keycode.

Step 5. In the body section of the email, right click and Paste the Hardware Fingerprint. Type in the name of the licensee.

Keycodes will only be sent to the licensee and other employees or consultants who have been pre-designated.

We will generate a name/key provided by the hardware fingerprint. When you receive name and key repeat steps 1 and 2 and enter the info.

Note: This installation will only install program files, layouts, and templates. It will not install a new database. You must restore your database from backup first before installing this file or if the database is shared on the server/host - you will need to locate it upon installation.

If you need further help on this issue contact support@software4advisors.com or you may call 770.475.9213 - support calls will require either a support contract or a support per incident fee.

Adding Holidays to your ACT! 6.0 Calendar

To add holidays to your Act4Advisors v2 (ACT! 6.0 database), we suggest you start by adding the holidays to the MS Outlook calendar. You can then send those holidays to ACT!

Adding Holidays for 2008-2012 to MS Outlook

Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 includes country/region holidays through the end of 2007. To add holidays for calendar years 2008 through 2012, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 924423.

Add or remove holidays
Do one of the following:
Add holidays
1.On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Calendar Options.
2.Under Calendar options, click Add Holidays.
3. Select the check box next to each country/region whose holidays you want to add to your Calendar, and then click OK. Your own country/region is automatically selected.

Notes:
By default, no holidays are loaded when you begin using Microsoft Outlook.

The holiday information provided with Office Outlook 2003 includes calendar years 2003 through 2007. To add holidays for calendar years 2008 through 2012, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 924423.

Add Outlook holidays to ACT!
This step assumes you do not use MS Outlook as a calendar for other activities. If you do, ALL Outlook activities will be copied into the ACT! database.

1. Once the holidays are in your MS Outlook calendar, open ACT! and choose Tools > Outlook Activities> Update Activities

2. Check “ACT! calendar with Outlook activities”

3. Change date range to incorporate the end date of 12/31/2012

4. Choose Update button

The holidays should now be in ACT! under your own My Record.
